Abstract. The article examines the activity of the British military intelligence service on the eve and during the Second Anglo-Boer War. Particular attention is paid to the tactical and strategic planning of the operations of the army units of the British Empire against the allied Boer republics of Transvaal and the Orange Free State. The mechanism of еру field intelligence service work, which played an important role during the conduct of guerrilla warfare, is revealed.
