DYNAMICS OF THE GENERAL P. D. TSITSIANOV’S ACTIVITY IN KABARDA IN THE CONTEXT OF TENDENCIES AND CONTRADICTIONS IN RUSSIAN-KABARDIAN RELATIONS OF THE END OF THE XVIII - THE BEGINNING OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article analyzes the peculiarities of interrelations between the Russian authorities and the Kabardian aristocracy in the period of the General P. D. Tsitsianov’s commandership in Caucasus (1802-1808) in the context of contradictions between the subjects, which developed during the second half of the XVIII century and were determined by both foreign-policy and regional factors and circumstances. The author characterizes the Sharia movement in Kabarda and considers the reasonability of introducing the elements of the Russian state system to the Caucasian people. The paper examines the dynamics of P. D. Tsitsianov’s approaches to the problem of stabilizing the situation in Kabarda.
