STUDENTS OF CLERICAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF PENZA PROVINCE AT THE TURN OF THE XIX-XX CENTURIES: SOCIAL SELF-IDENTIFICATION AND REVOLUTIONARY VIEWS

Abstract. Among the social groups that were inclined to social protest against autocracy in the Russian Empire at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries the youth played the key role. Young people most actively participated in oppositional and even revolutionary struggle. By the example of the students of the clerical educational institutions of Penza province the author analyzes the causes and motives for the involvement of the seminary students into the anti-government movement. The students’ expectations are compared with the realia of the social life of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century against the background of monarchism crisis.
