SOCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR DEPENDENT POPULATION IN ANTI-BOLSHEVIST SIBERIA IN 1918-1919

Abstract. The article, basing on previously unpublished materials of the Siberian archives, considers the main directions of the social assistance of the Provisional Siberian Government in relation to the dependent population in the Altai region and Novonikolayevsk in 1918-1919. The peculiarities of charity for the disabled and elderly people in poorhouses, the specificity of material support, health resort and specialized medical treatment are analysed. The author comes to the conclusion that there was no integral system of social protection of the disabled and elderly people in anti-Bolshevist Siberia, and assistance to the dependent population did not differ from the pre-revolutionary practice of public charity.
