THE CHINESE INFLUENCE ON THE TUVINIAN CULTURE: TOBACCO SMOKING AND SMOKING ACCESSORIES

Abstract. The paper examines the Chinese influence on the Tuvinian culture by the example of tobacco smoking and smoking accessories. The author introduces the information concerning the propagation of tobacco smoking and snuffboxes in the Uriankhai region into scientific use, suggests a classification of snuffbox collections according to the sources of arrival, time and geography of existence, and identifies the specific features of the Chinese and Tuvinian snuffboxes from the funds of Aldan Maadyr National Museum of the Tuva Republic. The findings can be used while studying the Tuvinian history and ethnography. General scientific, special research methods are the theoretical and methodological basis of the work.
