Abstract. The article considers the key features of the European migrant crisis of 2015 and its influence on Norway - Russia relations. The author points out that the migrant crisis hampered cooperation between the border regions that had been established in the Soviet epoch and, consequently, required urgent measures to consolidate the partners’ efforts. Special attention is paid to analysing anti-crisis measures taken by the administration of Murmansk region and the northern provinces of Norway. The findings lead to the conclusion that close cooperation between the border regions contributed to solving the problem and stimulated the development of a constructive dialogue in the Arctic region.
