Abstract. The study aims to identify interethnic contacts that are represented in traditional folklore of indigenous peoples of the Russian Far East and influenced formation of the region’s cultural space. Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the author considers the issue of cultural interaction of indigenous ethnic groups in dynamic aspect, on the basis of folklore material. The article presents examples of oral lore, from creation myths to ancestral legends. Along with direct evidence of interethnic contacts, such indirect signs of another culture influence as folk heroes’ behaviour, specific realia of ethnographic context, etc. are analysed. The research findings have shown that the Tungus component of the regional folklore was especially productive.
