Abstract. The paper aims to reveal the content of reservists’ and recruits’ military training in the 23rd Novosibirsk Reserve Infantry Division. The article examines the command’s efforts to provide the army with trained manpower in the years of the Great Patriotic War. Scientific originality of the study is conditioned by the fact that the author introduces previously unpublished archival sources into scientific circulation, which makes it possible to identify the difficulties that arose in the process of reservists’ training. The research findings are as follows: the author justifies the role of the personnel’s initiative in solving the problem of the non-permanent staff’s and reinforcements’ military training efficiency under insufficient material and technical support.
Key words and phrases: Великая Отечественная война, Сибирский военный округ (СибВО), военное обучение, военнообязанные, призывники, Great Patriotic War, Siberian Military District, military training, reservists, recruits
