The Russian Political and Legal Doctrines of the XIX Century through the Lenses of Modernization Theory

Abstract. The paper aims to identify the place of domestic political and legal doctrines of the XIX century in the modernization paradigm. To achieve this research objective, the author analyses the content and transformation of the basic modernization conceptions, examines correlation of the modernization theory with the key issues of domestic political and legal doctrines of the XIX century. The research methodology includes the method of analogy, the comparative analysis method and the historical dialectical method. Scientific originality of the paper involves identifying the place of domestic political and legal doctrines both within early modernization theories and current modernization projects. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that the Russian political and legal thought of the XIX century contains the ideas, which not only correlate with provisions of early modernization theories but anticipate modernization conceptions of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century.
