Kazimir Malevich’s pedagogical system: In the context of systems of avant-garde artists

Abstract. The paper is devoted to the comparative analysis of new approaches in the art education of the 1920s. The aim of the study is to reveal the main provisions of Kazimir Malevich’s pedagogical system in the context of similar proposals by Russian and European avant-garde artists. The study focuses on the educational models of the Vitebsk Institute and the State Institute of Artistic Culture in Leningrad. The material is novel in that the study is the first to carry out a comparison of the main provisions of various teaching systems and the construction of art educational institutions of the early XX century. As a result, the main principles of K. Malevich’s pedagogical system, the techniques used by him in organising classes and conducting research, reflecting the innovation of the Malevich school, have been outlined.
