COMPUTER METHODS OF STUDYING ACOUSTIC CHARACTERISTICS OF FOLK VOCAL VOICES

Abstract. The article examines the precise methods of studying the physical-acoustic parameters of the sounds used by folk singers. The methods, the usage of which has broadened considerably over the last decades due to the further development and improvement of computer technologies, allow analysing in detail the techniques used in folk traditions: overtone singing, the peculiarities of glissando and vibrato. The paper also examines the spectral structure of a sound; the spectral analysis allows the authors to conclude about the peculiarities of the folk manner of sound extraction and its differences from the academic one.
