Abstract.
The article suggests the social-philosophical analysis of the essential and specific functions of education. The correlation of education influence on social movements and functions on reproduction and change of social reality implemented by education is analyzed. The features of education social functions realization under the conditions of modern society are considered. It is shown that crisis in education manifests itself as a situation of the choice of the direction for further development.
