The educational practice system of school No. 40 in Orenburg under the leadership of V. M. Barbazyuk in the second half of the 20th century: a historical-pedagogical analysis

Abstract.
The aim of this study is the historical-pedagogical reconstruction of the educational practice system of School No. 40 in Orenburg in the second half of the 20th century. The article systematizes biographical data of the school’s director V. M. Barbazyuk, details regarding the establishment of a system of labor and aesthetic education, practice-oriented and production-based forms of learning at School No. 40, as well as the adaptation of A. S. Makarenko’s pedagogical ideas to the conditions of a mass school. The scientific novelty of this research lies in the fact that, for the first time, based on archival, biographical, and pedagogical sources, it analyzes the educational practice system of Secondary School No. 40, identifies and describes the features of the formation and functioning of the system of labor and aesthetic education for students, and reveals the mechanisms by which the pedagogical staff adapted A. S. Makarenko’s ideas to the conditions of a mass school in Orenburg. As a result of the study, V. M. Barbazyuk’s biographical data were systematized, information on the establishment and development of School No. 40 in Orenburg was gathered, and its system of educational practice was reconstructed. The school’s experience reflects key trends in the development of regional education during the second half of the 20th century, demonstrating a higher level of pedagogical organization, and revealing the specific features of the school’s educational system as an environment.
