Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of some peculiarities of teaching and studying the Russian language as a foreign one at the present stage. The data about its relevance are given; the necessity of the special training of the teachers of this academic discipline is highlighted. Special attention is paid to the change of the contingent of people studying the Russian language as a foreign one.
