Abstract. The article examines the characteristic features of word formation in preschool children’s speech. Particular attention is paid to the identification of the common patterns of children’s word creation in this period. The author gives the brief description of deviations in the child’s speech from adults’ system speech material. The relevance of the work is determined by the inadequate theoretical elaboration of this field in science. The material collected and analyzed in this paper may be used in teaching the Russian language and for the illustration of some word-formative language phenomena.
