CONFLICT AS A NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCE OF SOCIAL STRATIFICATION

Abstract. The article examines the notion of social stratification and social problems following from it. They include such phenomena as the division of population by means of the formation of prestigious districts and districts of no prestige, inter-sectoral or inter-professional stratification, the differentiation of labour remuneration. Analyzing these phenomena the author shows their potential danger for the society. Social mobility is considered as one of the ways of the prevention of social conflicts.
