Abstract. The article is devoted to auding as one of four competencies, which must be mastered during a foreign language learning process. The author analyzes the peculiarities of the technique of students training for auding, singles out the basic features of the texts for auding depending on students' level and names the necessary preparatory stages facilitating further text understanding.
