FUNCTIONAL FEATURES OF REPROACH EXPRESSION IN ENGLISH

Abstract. The authors describe the main functional classes of the speech act of reproach in the English language, pay special attention to the structural features of this speech act expression, and show that the structure of reproach depends on a number of pragmatic factors, as well as on the processing features of the speech act of reproach in the English linguistic culture: increased indirection, the tendency to conform to the principles of negative politeness, the tendency to minimize the pressure of communication, the freedom of communicant, etc.
