"HEAVY DREAMS" BY F. SOLOGUB AS "CLAUSTROPHOBIC" NOVEL

Gosteva Anna Vladimirovna
Voronezh State University

Abstract. The author considers the atypical perception of space in the novel "Heavy Dreams" by F. Sologub. Tightness, stuffiness, cold, suffocation, and haze pertain to the attributes of such space. "Claustrophobic character" exists at all levels of artistic reality: from specific loci to a subject’s consciousness images and the "composition" of the whole universe. The agoraphobic experience of space can occur in parallel with the claustrophobic one and it is a variant of the latter.
