Abstract. The author studies such phenomenon of post-modernist culture as demotivator, considers demotivators as polymodal texts, based on the interaction of different types between verbal and visual components. The interpretation is determined as thinking process that ensures the comprehension of demotivators. It allows realizing the synthesis of verbal and visual components and inferring a new meaning by means of the operation of conceptual integration.
