GENRE MODIFICATION OF NOVEL "MIRACLE LIFE OF JOSEPH BALSAMO, COUNT CAGLIOSTRO" BY M. KUZMIN

Abstract. The author undertakes the attempt to interpret M. Kuzmin’s novel, considers the most important sides of the work: narration features, irony, carnival elements, images system; pays attention to the principles of legendary personality’s biography, basing on the analysis reveals the features of the work genre, emphasizes the modifications that occurred with this category, and comes to the conclusion that genre innovations are based on the ironic modelling of elements that make this genre paradigm - legends, adventure novel, life story, especially biographies, and thus a new kind of novel is created.
