METAPHOR IN GERMAN RIDDLES

Abstract. The author considers some unique features of metaphor in the German riddles, basing on the degree or type of similarity between the denotation and significate of riddles reveals several types of the German metaphorical riddles, tells that S. G. Lazutin undertakes the similar classification of the Russian riddles, and presents the system of common metaphors typical of the German riddles.
