TEXT OF A REPORTAGE: INTRODUCTIVE PREDICATES AS A MEANS FOR INTRODUCING EVIDENTIALITY AND EPISTEMIC MODALITY

Postevaya Ekaterina Vasil'evna
Southern Federal University

Abstract. Evidentiality and epistemic modality introduced within a framework of a reportage by introductive predicates are directly related to the expression of reliability of the represented fact. Evidentiality registers a source of information from which the knowledge about the fact was got. Epistemic modality represents a valuation of the fact. Source of information and valuation, in its turn, manifest both a level of certainty of a speaker about the validity of the expressed proposition and a level of reliability of this proposition.
