POLITICAL METAPHOR: COGNITIVE AND PRAGMATIC ASPECTS

Abstract. The article touches on the role of metaphor in the modern political discourse: explicates and describes the cognitive mechanisms, pragmatic specifics and persuasive potential of a political methaphorics. The author concludes that metaphorical models of political communication are not only conceptual patterns to generate new meanings objectifying in the language and speech but are actively used by the political discourse producers as an instrument for influencing the audience.
