SONORANTS AS MEANS OF PERSONAL NAMES EUPHONY

Abstract. The article reveals the significant role of name euphony factor in the formation of modern antroponymic systems in the age of globalization. The author sets the task by means of a gender and empirical study of the ten most popular names for babies given in 2012 to determine the correlated characteristics of sonorants in the names based on different phonetic systems of unrelated languages. The author also ascertains the universal and idioethnic features of evaluating articulatory and acoustic name euphony.
