INTERPRETATION OF ARMY LIFE IN THE "WAR TRILOGY" BY ANTHONY POWELL

Abstract. The article "Interpretation of Army Life in the "War Trilogy" by Anthony Powell" considers the changes in the world outlook of a character-narrator occurred over a period of three novels. These changes form a different attitude of the character to reality and develop a realistic conception of the world. Powell draws a parallel between the army atmosphere and mythological hierarchy. The English social life in the wartime is represented by the author with peculiar confidence and artistic skill.
