CONCEPT OF "DESPAIR" IN THE STORY BY STEFAN ZWEIG "LETTER FROM AN UNKNOWN WOMAN"

Abstract. The paper presents the results of investigating the concept of "despair" by the material of the story by the Austrian writer of the past century Stefan Zweig "Letter From An Unknown Woman". The author defines the denotative areas of conceptualization of despair in the story - 1) death; 2) feeling of being drained, depression; 3) torture, painful emotional stress; 4) psychophysical condition of a human being. The researcher identifies the basic method of verbalization of the concept of "despair" - representation. Associative - imaginative features of Stefan Zweig’s original concept in the story "Letter From An Unknown Woman" come to the following: tearful eyes, tears, dead body, flaring candles, fists clenched from heartache and desperation.
