THE ATTRIBUTIVE MARKEDNESS OF CHARACTERS IN THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH FOLKTALES

Eliseeva Yuliya Vladimirovna
North Caucasian Federal University

Abstract. In the article the methods of the study of one of the aspects of attributive characterization of personages of a folk tale are suggested. The attributively marked characters of folktales can be divided into recurrent and nonrecurrent. The differences in the attributive markedness of the character do not reflect his significance in the folktale hierarchy but they are an indicator of narrator's (storyteller's) intention to add one or another quality to the personage. The attributive load also indicates mediately about the character's aesthetic weight in the artistic space of the folktale.
Key words and phrases: персонаж народной сказки, атрибутивная характеристика персонажа, рекуррентные и нерекуррентные персонажи, character of a folktale, attributive feature of a character, recurrent and nonrecurrent characters
