VIRTUAL NAME AS THE WAY TO REPRESENT GENDER IDENTITY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE FRENCH CHAT FORUM.AUFEMININ.COM)

Abstract. This article considers and analyzes the ways of self-presentation and expression of gender identity in the French electronic discourse. The purpose of this paper is to describe the language nominations for revealing their real or fictional gender attribute and to consider the factors that influence the sex change in the virtual space. The study suggests that in the self-presentation of virtual identity there is a certain set of language parameters that allow identifying the gender component.
