SPECIFICS OF IMPLEMENTING METAPHORICAL MODEL "MEDICINE IS A SPORT" IN THE ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. The paper is executed in the light of cognitive linguistics. It examines metaphorical model "Medicine is a sport" from the viewpoint of slot-frame content. This model for the first time is analyzed in the oral medical discourse. The author identifies the similarities and differences of using this model in the Russian and English languages. She emphasizes the similarity: in both discourses we distinguish the frame "Kinds of Sports"; as for the differences, in the Russian medical discourse we distinguish the frame "Types of games", and in the English - "Sportsmen and audience".
