CORRELATION OF CATEGORIES "GENRE", "STYLE" AND "AUTHOR" IN THE MEDIEVAL ART (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE MEDIEVAL BESTIARY GENRE)

Abstract. The article deals with the study of correlation of priority categories of historical poetics "style", "genre" and "author" which is formed at the medieval stage of the artistic consciousness development. The analysis of stylistic characteristics is carried out on the basis of theoretical propositions of the "genre styles" conception. As the practical material the author studies the corpus of examples recorded in the text "The Nun's Priest's Tale" in Geoffrey Chaucer’s poem "The Canterbury Tales" which is considered as the bestiary genre.
