SPECIFICS OF USUAL AND OCCASIONAL METAPHOR’S FUNCTIONING IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN LITERARY TEXT

Abstract. The article examines the function of metaphor as an artistic expressive means in the comparative aspect, analyzes the metaphorical units of English and Russian literary texts, introduces the classification of metaphors. The paper explores the specifics of using metaphors in the works by two authors, identifies the role of the metaphors under study for each literary work. The findings are summarized in the conclusions.
