DEVELOPMENT OF TRANSLATION COMPETENCE OF THE STAFF OF TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION (EXPERIENCE OF NATIONAL RESEARCH TOMSK POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY)

Abstract. The ability to use translation strategies reduces difficulties associated with the necessity to formulate complex scientific ideas directly in a foreign language, which is especially important for specialists of technical sphere. The article discusses the two-level system of training scientific-pedagogical workers of technical universities related to the development of a translation competence for writing a research paper in English. The described practice is sequentially implemented in the framework of professional development programmes for the staff of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University.
