EDITOR’S TEXT ACTIVITY VS LITERARY EDITING

Abstract. The article discusses the need and possibility of comprehending traditional views on theory and practice of literary editing on the basis of new tendencies in modern linguistics. The author of the paper determines the place of this kind of professional text activity among other linguistic disciplines, which allows her to formulate the essence taking into account the optimization principle. The researcher also substantiates preference of using the notion "editor’s text activity" instead of the term "literary editing".
