PECULIARITIES OF TERMS FUNCTIONING IN SCHOOLCHILDREN’S SPEECH

Abstract. Scientific vocabulary is an integral part of senior school students’ lexicon. However, terminology is a special part of the lexical system of the modern Russian language, which cannot be studied on the same grounds as common vocabulary. The ignoring of terms specificity inevitably leads to mistakes in their use. This work is devoted to the issues of senior school students’ speech competence and in particular to the problems of terms functioning in schoolchildren’s speech. Basing on the analysis of secondary school students’ oral and written utterances, the authors give a classification of typical violations of terms use and determine their nature.
