POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IN THE BRITISH POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the relevant topic of the research of politically correct vocabulary and constructions in the British political discourse. The subject of the analysis is the speech given by the British Prime Minister Theresa May at the annual convention of the ruling party of Great Britain. The authors aim to identify and analyze the lexical means of implementing political correctness peculiar to the British leader, with the help of which the politician achieves the target goals. Euphemisms are the main means of expressing political correctness in the British political discourse. The results of the research can be applied in the field of political linguistics and rhetoric.
