THE ROLE OF THE TITLE IN TRAINING SENIOR PUPILS TO WORK WITH THE TEXT IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract. The article considers the importance of resorting to the title when training senior pupils to work with the text in a foreign language. The role of the title of a work in its general understanding by the reader or the listener is discussed. Special attention is paid to the appeal to symbolic meanings of titles at the lesson, the requirements for the selection of literary texts and methods of the organization and implementation of educational and cognitive activity, while emphasizing the importance of the dialogue between the author and the reader, which is impossible without comprehending the title. It is stated that the choice of a suitable method will help to form a more accurate picture of the author’s intention and the main idea, which is hidden in the title.
