Kazan (Volga region) Federal University

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying zoomorphic metaphors as the transfer of the properties of animal world representatives to phenolmena and objects of other elements of the reality. For the analysis of zoomorphic metaphors the article uses the theory of conceptual integration proposed by J. Fauconier and M. Turner based on the assumption that in the process of discourse development the native speaker uses dynamic conceptual structures - mental spaces - and derives new conceptual knowledge called blend. The study of the mechanism of conceptual integration as a way of zoomorphization is conducted by the example of sports media discourse. The study is a comparative analysis of the mechanism of zoomorphization in the Russian, British and American mass media.
Key words and phrases: зооморфная метафора, когнитивный механизм, ментальное пространство, бленд, концептуальная интеграция, zoomorphic metaphor, cognitive mechanism, mental space, blend, conceptual integration.
