Abstract. Studying participle by foreign students is a complicated process essential to develop competence in official written and oral communication and obligatory to improve the practice of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The article examines the stages of teaching active and passive participles to foreign students: introducing grammatical material, teacher’s overall commentary, systematizing grammatical material, forming language skills and developing communicative skills. The authors propose a system of lexico-grammatical exercises on the topic.
