COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS OF SIGN

Abstract. The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the Russian and English phraseological units of sign. The meaning of the term "sign idiom" and classification of the gestures adopted in the scientific literature are discussed. The authors propose a detailed classification of phraseological units of sign and analyze their semantic peculiarities that allow drawing conclusions about the specifics of the compared lexical units in the Russian and English languages and their relevance to communicative behavior.
