ORTHOGRAPHIC NORM OF THE MIDDLE ENGLISH MANUSCRIPTS OF THE XII CENTURY: THE PECULIARITIES OF WORD DIVISION

Abstract. This article presents an overview of joint and separate spelling of content and functional words as one of the aspects of the orthographic norm by the example of the English manuscripts of the XII century in order to find out certain characteristic features inherent to the orthography of the Middle English manuscripts of that period.
