Abstract. The conducted research is devoted to the study of the main aspects of the foreign perception of the Russian classical poetry - cross-literary communication and aesthetic interference. The subject of the analysis is the results of the scientific experiment aimed at revealing the peculiarities of the foreign reception of M. Yu. Lermontov’s poem "In the wild north a pine tree stands alone" (1841). The results of the experiment show that in the perception of the modern Tatar readers the aesthetic interference caused by the impact of the national literature and language can be seen. Foreign readers also proceed from a different system of coordinates in understanding Lermontov’s poem which transforms the work of the Russian poet into another model of attitude toward the world.
