ON LEXICO- SEMANTIC GROUPS OF GERMAN POLITICAL ABBREVIATIONS

Abstract. The article is devoted to identifying the specificity of the functioning of German political abbreviations. On the basis of the study of abbreviation units it is ascertained that they undergo permanent transformations under the influence of extralinguistic and linguistic factors. In the course of the research 13 lexico-semantic groups of abbreviations of the terminological field "politics" are singled out. In percentage terms, the group of abbreviations "ministries and departments" takes first place (13% of the total sample). The smallest in terms of numbers is the group "political events" (1% of the overall scope).
