Abstract. Some researchers of the Turkic languages believe that during the conversion new words are not formed, that it is only a functionnal phenomenon. According to other specialists in Turkic philology, new words were formed during conversion only in the ancient era, but it happened quite rarely. There is also an opinion according to which in the Turkic languages there are words with a complex meaning of different parts of speech, such as noun-adjective-adverb, verb-noun, and so on. The article is devoted to the substantiation of the inconsistency of such opinions and to the proof of the word-formative essence of conversion in the Turkic languages at all times.
