METAPHORICAL TRANSFER AS A FACTOR OF SEMANTIC DERIVATION

Dzhabrailova Valida Saidovna, Belozertseva Natal'ya Vasil'evna
Moscow State University of Humanities and Economics

Abstract. The article examines such means of semantic derivation as metaphorical transfer. The authors emphasize the importance of motivation for word-formation and consider metaphorical motivation as a phenomenon of new nomination based on transfer by similarity using only one semantic component. Having analyzed certain characteristics constituting the basis of metaphorization, the authors conclude that new lexical formation appeared as a result of metaphorical transfer is the only bearer of established metaphorical meaning.
