GLOBALIZATION OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: REASONS AND CONSEQUENCES

Abstract. The article analyzes various linguistic and extralinguistic aspects of linguistic globalization, and identifies conditions and factors that determine the status of the English language as global. Specific features of the English language which predetermined its global status are revealed. Special attention is paid to the analysis of problems and prospects of the dynamics of linguistic globalization. The logical and paradoxical consequences of linguistic globalization are highlighted.
