QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF EPENTHESIS IN THE RUSSIAN SPEECH OF SELEMDZHA EVENKS

Amur State University

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying qualitative and quantitative characteristics of epenthesis realized in the Russian speech by the bearers of the Evenk language. The findings testify that /?/, /е/, /?/ and /u/-like vowels are realized as epenthesis in the Evenks’ Russian speech. The favourable conditions for vowel insertion are the combinations of occlusive explosive unvoiced consonants /p/, /t/, /k/ with the subsequent sonorant vibrating /r/-/r?/. The average epenthesis length is 51 milliseconds. Voiced consonants increase the duration of vowel insertion.
