Abstract. In the article the attempt to identify the cognitive mechanisms of understanding the meaning of stable units in the business English language according to their classification into etiquette, content and stylistic is made. As a conclusion, it is noted that all these expressions are considered as overlapping of different mental spaces, for understanding of which some cognitive efforts are required. The semantic originality created at their intersection of blend makes a special stylistic colouring of the business style.
