STRATEGIES TO INTERPRET FILM TITLES WITH INTERTEXTUAL INCLUSIONS FROM ENGLISH INTO RUSSIAN

Abstract. The article examines the strategies to interpret and translate film titles with intertextual inclusions from English into Russian. The author provides classification of such titles from different viewpoints and concludes that the choice of translation strategy in many ways depends on whether the precedent English text is familiar to Russian audience. If a precedent text is familiar to the representatives of both linguistic communities then the efficient strategy is transformation, if the differences exist - substitution.
