Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of the formation of foreign-language communicative competence of students of non-linguistic higher education establishments on the basis of studying the regions of the country of the language under consideration. Teacher’s experience of the author is analyzed, and the analysis shows that the study of the regions of France contributes to the growth of motivation and interest of students to master the French language as a means of communication with its native speakers. The correct selection of authentic materials and the use of language and speech exercises ensure the improvement of the foreign-language communicative competence.
